Results of the Second ERA-CAPS call for proposals announced

The ERA-CAPS call consortium is pleased to announce that 12 transnational projects involving 57 research teams (including 5 own funded teams) from 15 different countries have been selected for funding.

Inspired by the call theme: “Expanding the European Research Area in Molecular Plant Sciences II”, more than 600 research teams from 29 European and non-European countries submitted proposals to the Second ERA-CAPS call which closed on 14 March 2014.  This Second ERA-CAPS Call was implemented in two steps including a pre-proposal and full proposal stage.

Despite the budget constraints in some of the participating countries, the 12 best ranked proposals could be funded.  A total of ca. 20 M EUR will hence be invested in plant science research at the transnational level over the coming three years.

The funded projects cover a wide spectrum of molecular plant sciences; the research theme that was most commonly addressed was food security followed by biotic/abiotic stresses and adaptation to a changing climate.  The full list of funded projects and investigators is be available on the page: http://www.eracaps.org/joint-calls/era-caps-funded-projects
